Our community - and every group walk - is rooted in support, trust and encouragement

Our Values

  • We stick together. We walk at a gentle pace, as fast as our slowest walker. We wait for everyone, and don’t leave anyone behind.

  • We’re supportive. We encourage each other to get outdoors and try new things. We lift each other up if things don’t go to plan (we’ve all had those nappy blow-outs on the trail), and cheer each other on when we achieve something amazing.

  • We’re reliable and trustworthy. We try our best to stick to planned times when setting off and arriving back from walks. If we say we’re going for a walk, we’ll go, and if we need to cancel or change plans we will always let each other know in good time.

  • We’re flexible. We also know that things can change with babies, so sometimes walks take a bit longer because of lots of nappy-change or snack stops.

  • We’re open. Blaze Trails is for all families, whatever composition or background. We are also open to all grandparents and carers - if you have a baby in your care please join us!

  • We’re non-judgemental and non-discriminatory. We all have different views and ways of life - walking is for everyone. We don’t tolerate discrimination of any kind.

  • We’re proactive - we want to actively do more to support those traditionally underrepresented in the outdoors to get outside with their families, including in particular people who identify as Black, Asian or from a minoritised community, LGBTQ+, working class and disabled.

  • We’re accessible. We want families with a variety of physical, health and communication needs to be able to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.

  • We love our bodies. We’re body positive - about our own bodies and others’. We look after our amazing postpartum bodies by building up physical activity gradually, and listening carefully to any signs that we need to slow down.
